Problem#1: Are 1st and 2nd wives coming out
backwards
in your outlines and gedcoms generated by Family Tree
Marker (up thru version 16)?
Solution: Always enter a marriage date for each spouse,
even if it is just an approximation of year...i.e. Abt 1876. This should
be done regardless of how many spouses there are. Double-check
that all the children are shown under the correct set of parents by
comparing a child's birthdate against a parent's death date and
their parents' marriage year.
Problem #2:
Why are children coming out on Family
Tree
Maker Ver 16 or earlier reports and gedcoms not in chronological order?
Solution: Adding children can be done in any birth order;
but before leaving that family page, use the "Sort Children" feature:
Click people, then sort children, then okay.
Now all
the children will be
reported with the oldest child first, then the next oldest, and on down. Always enter an appoximate birth year
for each child. If no birth information is given, those children
will appear before those with birth information entered.
