A tiger blind (my note: blind tiger - a place where illegal whiskey may be bought.) from the good old county of Union created a sensation Friday evening by putting itself on exhibition, unintentionally, however, to the vulgar gaze of a motley gathering in front of Commissioner Gaston’s office on Spring Street.
The tiger, which was owned by MH Hite, of the county aforesaid, was quietly meandering along Pine street, near the cotton facotry, when Deputy Marshal McAfee pounced down upon it.
If it had not been for McAfee, it is doubtful if it would have been on exhibition.  It was a well equipped tiger, having two good mules, wagon, keg of whisky, jug, wash tub, measuring vessels, etc.
Hite was tried before Commissioner Gaston and placed under $380 bond for his appearance at the next form of the US Circuit Court. - Eagle

The new pastor Rev JF Tyson of the Blairsville church, has received a hearty and cordial welcome by the hospitable people of Blairsville and curcuit.  In addition to the royal reception on his arrival, the young people decided to let their new pastor and family know what could be done by their individual efforts in way of a pleasant surprise.  Accordingly, on Wednesday evening the 6th, young ladies and gentlemen commenced coming in with baskets filled with eatibles until quite a company of Blairsville’s big-hearted young people had arrived when the pastor’s wife was informed that her help in the dining room was not needed until the table was almost groaning beneath the tempting viands , etc, etc....
The young ladies present were Misses Lillie Glazier, Mary Glazier, Julia Butt, Fieta Butt, Sally Butt.  The young gentlemen were Messrs.
